arp shmarp

by on December 16, 2012

Well, related to previous post.

Almost a week spent on this, and I think we still did not get to the bottom of this.

The arp command shows that two IPs are connected with the same HW address.

Per my Linux expert (who claims he’s not a network expert) this happens within the switch: somehow it forwards the same MAC for different IPs.

This causes, of course, the server to be unreachable.

The network expert did see some strange behavior within the nexus 2K switch, and he claims he fixed it,

However – only when I connected the server to another cisco catalyst switch that i have, did I manage to the server and the mac addresses duplication issue was resolved.
